How to check a project on Punjab RERA in five minutes

Every residential or commercial project above the RERA threshold in Mohali, New Chandigarh, Zirakpur and Kharar must be registered with Punjab RERA before it is advertised or sold. Panchkula projects register with Haryana RERA.

The steps

• Get the registration number from the brochure, ad or broker. Punjab numbers look like PBRERA-SAS79-PR0512.
• Search it on rera.punjab.gov.in under registered projects.
• Match the promoter, project name, land area, number of units and completion date.
• Open the quarterly progress reports.
• Check for complaints and orders against the promoter.

If a project has no registration number and is being sold anyway, treat it as a red flag.

Panchkula and Himachal

For projects in Panchkula, use the Haryana RERA website (haryanarera.gov.in); for Himachal Pradesh, the HP RERA website (hprera.nic.in).
